While there are countless reasons we love living and working in Burleson, the people are easily its best asset. One resident and business owner who both believes this and exemplifies it is Wayne Shamblin, owner of Burleson Outdoor Power Equipment.
One week after earning his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana College over thirty years ago, Wayne married his wife, Belinda. Together they moved to Burleson and have called it home since. Burleson is where they raised their two children and where they continue to work and contribute to this growing community.
Always a mechanical and power tools enthusiast, Wayne began to recognize the need for a retailer and specialized mechanic in the area. Eager to meet that need, he opened Burleson Outdoor Power Equipment in February of 2011.
Burleson Outdoor Power Equipment carries Scag, Honda, Toro, Stihl, ECHO, and Billy Goat equipment. It also staffs a certified Stihl Gold Master Mechanic, Scott Davis, who Wayne enjoys pointing out passed the test in an unheard-of short time frame. Wayne quickly adds that he is proud of all of his employees, who have helped make the company so successful in such a short period of time.
Burleson Outdoor Power Equipment has five full-time employees with 30 years of experience in outdoor power equipment between them. It also has two factory-certified technicians, allowing the company to operate as a Warranty Center for Briggs and Stratton, Honda, Kawasaki, Generac, Stihl, ECHO, Scag, Toro, and Billy Goat Equipment.
Everyone at Burleson Outdoor Power Equipment supports Wayne’s focus on customers and customer service. It is because of this company-wide commitment to putting customers first that Burleson Outdoor Power Equipment opened a new, 6,000 square-foot facility in February of 2014. This state-of-the-art facility with the latest in diagnostic equipment allows the technicians to quickly diagnose and repair any brand of lawn equipment, not just the brands the company carries. The new facility is more accessible to customers, and it has an expanded parts department to help the business keep its goal of having any part in stock or available within 48 hours—quite the point-of-pride for Wayne.
Just two years after opening, Burleson Outdoor Power Equipment was honored with the Burleson Area Chamber of Commerce Rising Star Award, given to businesses open three years or less who show promise and whose service contributes to the community.
Despite all of his business’ success, Wayne insists that meeting people is the most rewarding part of his job. “I feel like I’ve made a thousand new friends.” With everything he offers, you can see why business is booming and he’s making new friends every day!

Join him on Tuesday, March 3rd from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for on-site vendor demonstrations of all equipment lines it carries. Customers will have the opportunity to try equipment before they buy it, and they can enjoy a complimentary lunch between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Championship Chainsaw Carver, Jason Emmons will be creating sculptures on-site. Visitors can also enter for the chance to win an ECHO SRM-225 Trimmer or a Stihl SH-55 shredder/vac.
