Dallas Owen
for Burleson ISD School Board-Place 4
It sounds trite and cliché, but it only takes a short conversation to learn Dallas Owen sincerely loves and believes in the next generation. For 36 years she has strived to help Burleson to be a city where students of all ages flourish. From serving as a homeroom mom, treasurer of Kerr PTO, member of the Big Red Booster Club, helping birth and host 5th Quarter, planning Project Celebration, member of the Burleson Sports Hall of Fame Board, Texas Health Huguley Board, Community Council, and the Burleson Area Chamber of Commerce. For the past 13 years Dallas has helped teach a class at Pathway Church that prepares and equips 12th graders for life beyond high school. All three of her sons and two of her daughter in laws are products of BISD. One son and his wife, both BHS graduates, are now BISD educators. The next generation in her own family will soon have a kindergartner at Judy Hajek elementary.
Her platform is simple:
B – believes education is life changing
I – investing in our students makes the world a better place
S – sold out to teacher retention
D – dedicated to financial responsibility
As the controller and treasurer of their family-owned business, Dallas understands the importance of balancing the tension of vision and budget. While serving on a national board of independent office product dealers, she shared responsibility for the oversight of an annual $257 million dollar budget. She is committed to innovation and collaboration while building on the foundation of what is tried and true.
