A Love Story, A Local Dream, and the Start of Something Solid

This month’s cover is extra special to me. It features my daughter, Mylee, and her new husband, Collin Ramsey—two Burleson kids who grew up here, fell in love here, and are now starting their first business together. Watching them step into this next chapter has been one of my greatest joys, and I couldn’t be prouder to share their story with all of you.

If you grew up in Burleson, chances are you know the names, the faces, and the feeling of this community. For Mylee and Collin Ramsey, Burleson isn’t just home, it’s the place where a fourth-grade lunch table, a Sweet 16 dance, and a senior-year bonfire slowly stitched together a love story. It’s also where Collin is launching All Things Guttering, a new trades business built on craftsmanship, integrity, and family.

Mylee and Collin first crossed paths in 2012 at church, then again in fourth grade where they shared lunches and swapped scary stories with friends. Middle school drifted into different circles, and in high school they found their way back—same classes, carpools to golf practice, a Sweet 16 dance, and eventually a first kiss under the glow of a senior bonfire.

By Thanksgiving that year, Collin was joining Mylee’s family for a Cowboys game, and “from that day on, we just knew.” Four and a half years later, they’re newlyweds—fresh off a wedding and stepping right into entrepreneurship together.

There’s an easy pride when Collin talks about Mylee’s wins too. She’s a photographer whose goal was to travel for work—and recently, that dream carried them to the Oregon coast. “Seeing her dreams become reality has been amazing,” he says. That mutual support is more than cute newlywed energy; it’s a foundation for how they’re building a business and a life—side by side.

The Trades Are Calling

If the Ramsey name sounds familiar, it should. You’ve seen Ramsey Roofing signs all over town. Collin’s dad, Curtis Ramsey, has been serving homeowners here for a decade, walking people through repairs and replacements with steady honesty. That’s the role model Collin grew up with—someone who works hard, keeps his word, and loves the Lord.

“He’s been a constant example of hard work and faith in Jesus,” Collin says, and it shows in the way he talks about his own next step.

But ask Collin about goals, and he doesn’t start with revenue. He talks people. “My goal is to provide work for more local roofing companies and homeowners while also building a reliable team around me that will grow together in the upcoming years,” he says.

Success, to him, looks like building something durable—with his wife, with his crew, and with the community that raised them. “Anything else is just an addition,” he says. “My ultimate goal is to have the means to help my community and do the work my Creator has called me to do.”

And Mylee? “None of this would be possible without my wife’s support,” he says plainly. In the wobble moments, she’s steady. In the planning, she’s all in. That’s the heartbeat here: a family-oriented business with no shortcuts on integrity—and a promise to do the job right.

If we had to describe them in six words: gentle, devoted, benevolent; compassionate, sweet, selfless. That warmth comes through in how they serve, how they hire, and how they show up for the people who call.
