For the month of February, we here at Local Life are proud to showcase Homes for Heroes! Homes for Heroes is a non-profit organization that makes the home buying and selling process easier for our local heroes. Located on 121 NW Newton in Burleson, local representatives Melissa Sauters and D’Ann Walley have more than 29 years of shared experience in the world of real estate. They took their real estate game to the next level in 2018, when Melissa started the partnership with Home for Heroes! Melissa was looking for a way to honor her late father who was a verteran of the Second World War. In her search for the perfect way to honor him, she came across Homes for Heroes!

Homes for Heroes serves five groups of local heroes: members of the military, members of law enforcement, firefighters, healthcare workers, and teachers! When asked how Homes for Heroes helped our local heroes, Melissa told us, “We reward these heroes with a check at closing for their service when they purchase or sell a home. Also, we donate an additional percentage to the Homes For Heroes Foundation which award grants to the different hero groups across the nation.” Not only do these two women help heroes in our community, but they also are donating to heroes all across America!
Melissa and D’Ann’s branch of Homes for Heroes also donates to Burleson ISD’s REALM school, which is a secondary schooling opportunity that sharpens students’ skills coding, game design, computer science, and programming! They also donate to the Burleson Police Foundation and Marine Corps League’s Wheelchairs for Kids. Melissa told us that she enjoys getting the opportunity to “serv[e] Heroes that serve our community every day and being able to reward them for their service.” Since starting their partnership, Melissa and D’Ann, along with Homes for Heroes, have raised and given $29,000 back to the brave men and women of the Burleson/Crowley area!
