On behalf of every ATHENA who has proudly served as a Director of The ATHENA Society of Burleson, we extend our deepest gratitude for your unwavering generosity, friendship, and support over the past two decades.

Because of you, what began as a simple vision became an extraordinary legacy of compassion and service. Your sponsorship has enabled The ATHENA Society of Burleson to return more than $1.3 million to our community, providing hope and assistance to countless Johnson County and Burleson residents facing cancer and other life-threatening illnesses, while also supporting educational opportunities through local nonprofit organizations.

The ATHENA Society of Burleson was founded in 2003 by recipients of the prestigious ATHENA Leadership Award. While these women had individually been recognized for their leadership, community service, and commitment to empowering others, it was the vision of an ATHENA recipient that brought them together as a unified force for good.

Together, these remarkable women chose to channel their talents, experience, and passion into serving the people of Johnson County. Cancer quickly became their mission, inspired by the shared experiences and heartfelt compassion of the founding members.

Through our annual Mardi Gras Gala and other fundraising events, and the incredible generosity of sponsors like you, we partnered with organizations such as Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South Cancer Care Program, the Burleson Opportunity Fund, The WARM Place, The Careity Foundation, the Cooper Max Foundation, and many other nonprofit organizations that have directly impacted families in our community. Together, we helped provide cancer treatments, screenings, transportation, caregiver support, educational scholarships, grief counseling, and countless other services that offered hope during life’s most difficult moments.

Our success was never measured simply by dollars raised. It was measured in every patient who received treatment they otherwise could not afford, every family who found comfort during unimaginable circumstances, every student whose educational dreams were made possible, and every life touched because our community chose to care.

None of this would have been possible without you.

After much thoughtful consideration, the Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to dissolve The ATHENA Society of Burleson corporation and 501(c)(3).

While this chapter is coming to a close, we do so with immense pride in what has been accomplished and profound appreciation for every individual and business that believed in and continually supported our mission, year after year.

Although our organization will no longer operate, the impact of your generosity will continue to live on through the lives that have been forever changed. The compassion you demonstrated through your sponsorship created opportunities, restored hope, and reminded countless individuals that they were not alone.

As we reflect on more than twenty years of service, we celebrate not only the financial milestones, but also the relationships that were built along the way. Many of you stood beside us year after year, believing in our mission and helping us transform an idea into a lasting legacy of community service.

Please accept our sincere appreciation for being an essential part of The ATHENA Society of Burleson’s story. Your generosity has made Johnson County and Burleson stronger, kinder, and more compassionate places to call home.

While this organization may be concluding its journey, the spirit of service, leadership, and giving that defined The ATHENA Society will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of being part of it.
